趁空檔閒晃MSN旁邊的tool icon 發現其中一個工具叫MSN videos 隨性地點進去
映入眼簾的是Harry Potter Series 作者: J. K. Rowling的Q&A sessions
任何一個看過Harry Potter VI 的書迷 一定會想知道她接下來要怎麼安排第七集/完結篇
那場Q&A的發問觀眾 多是teeagers or kids 發問的重點都在
"Dumbledore is the greatest wizard of all time. How could he be dead?"
"My theory is Dumbledore is not dead. Snape is still in fact a good guy. What do you think about my theory?"
看著J. K. Rowling超級面有難色貌 窘迫地說
"I am sorry. I have to tell you Dumbledore is definately dead.
I am just helping you get through the stages of grief."
她在之後的影片中爆料 第七集絕對是完結篇 不會有續集 而完結篇裡有兩三個角色會死掉
查了一下相關資料 原來這個charity event是邀請J. K. Rowling, Stephen King and John Irving 三個作家
唸一段他們自己的作品 談談他們的寫作經驗 和觀眾互動
也因此 看到這些作家的另外一面 三位作家的經驗分享
Stephen King 真的是一個很幽默很親切的作家
觀眾問他寫的東西都這麼恐怖驚悚 會不會連自己都嚇死 "scare the crap out of your mind"
他回答 大家面對恐懼都有一些方法 有些人花大筆的錢 坐在診療室 跟心理醫師談
我的方法是把它寫出來 然後"Haha... and people pay me"~
而John Irving這個被喩為狄更斯傳人的美國作家 相較之下比較嚴肅
席間 提到他寫作的方式 他說自己是個slow processor 越戰發生五十年之後 才開始寫越戰
現在的他年近六十 才寫自己的童年 他喜歡遠距離看一件事情
而寫作之前 慣例是先寫最後一句 然後再開始列大綱 列章節 最後才完成第一章 也因此不太可能出現續集
另外提到 "A Sun of the Circus"是他所有作品中結構最複雜的一個 因為太多跳脫
他說那一本作品是他唯一一個寫作時需要不斷地重複寫上一句話的作品
又有觀眾問他 有沒有哪個作品是storyline深深影響自己的生活的
他說 就像剛剛說過的 storyline是早就寫好想好的 所以這個部分不會影響我的心情
可是寫" Until I Find You"時 因為是半自傳性色彩 "I had to deal with things I prefer forgotten"
(後來我查閱他的資料才知道 原來他小時候曾經跟一個年長很多歲的女性 半強迫狀態地發生關係
直到長大 他才知道那是一種侵害...)
女主持人最後問三位作家一個問題 "If you'd have to take 5 characters of your novels to dinner.
Who would you bring and why?" 驚悚小說裡主角大部分都死光了的Stephen King 幽默地說
"Honey, I'd be alone. I would probably discuss which characters I'd eat"
J. K. Rowling則會帶Harry, Hermione, Ron, Dumbledore and Hagrid. (帶Harry是因為她想跟他say sorry.)
看完了這幾個clips 開始對John Irving Steven King的作品也有興趣
有人評 John Irvinh故事裡"
以幽默口吻談論心理純粹的慾望 神聖的理想 付出慘痛代價的荒唐 和 故做世故的假正經" 聽起來極為有趣
其一作品 "The Cidar House Rules" (台灣翻成心塵往事) 很厚一本
而John Irving在1999年改編這個故事成劇本 拍成了電影 還因此得到Oscar最佳編劇獎
為了怕書太大本 沒讀完就放棄 還是先看電影好了 (如果是改編自己的小說 應該會蠻終於原味的 哈...)
不過倒是有興趣看"The Hotel New Hampshire" "Until I Find You" "The World According to Garp"
Stephen King 的作品有80%翻拍成電影
包括:刺激1995 (The Shawshank Redemption) 鬼店(The Shinning) 它(It) 魔女凱利(Carrie)
戰慄遊戲(Misery) 綠色奇蹟(The Green Miles) 追夢人(Dreamcatcher)等等
早期的Stephen King 因為Carrie一炮而紅 接著一連出版很多篇恐怖驚悚故事 故事詭異俐落 也因此被定型
但為求突破 Stephen King試圖探討更深層的恐怖 包括對童年 對隔離 潛意識等等
試圖把日常生活最平常的恐懼放大 讓讀者心有戚戚焉
作者享受被虐及虐待別人的快感 讀者則氣得牙癢癢的恨不得將兇手/怪物/元兇 繩之以法
之後一連串的作品被書迷批評品質參差不齊 直到四季奇譚(Different Seasons) 才又掀起另一波高峰
(這本書包含四個比較寫實的故事 其中三篇已改編成電影 最有名的就是刺激1995)
也因為這本書出版 證明Stephen King不只是驚悚小說家 更是一個很會說故事的天才
2002年年初 Stephen King說要封筆 不過很慶幸地 今年他準備新書發表"Lisey's Story"
我想我大概會買The Shinning, Different Seasons還有新出版的Lisey's Story吧~

well, you know what I am reading right now . AND I didnàt finish reading it yet.
I try to read it as slow as i could. haha!!
I usually dont like to read some book to scare myself or too scaring to fall asleep.
so...the shinning is definitely not on my reading list. But i would like to know hows it if you write it down to tell us!!
Different seasons sound good. Tell me if it worths to read.
Question, if you could have dinner with 5 characters in Harry potter book series, who will you like to have dinner with???
I just finish re-reading Harry Potter VI yesterday, getting in the sad mood afterwards, well, as asual.
Those words Dumbledore said to Harry about Horcruxes or Prophecy touches me a great deal.
(I might post that section on the blog later on today.)
Harry Potter series are not just books for children.
Readers of different ages would fall for it and see different aspects out of them.
So back to your question. If I can take 5 HP characters to dinner, who would I take?
Definately Harry Potter for his courage and Dumbledore for his wisdom.
Maybe not Hagrid, who is too huge and nasty from my respect of views.
Maybe not Hermione or Ron. The former is too bossy while the latter is a bit dull.
I will take Snape who might still be a good guy, Minerva McGonagall (so that I can see
perfect Transfiguration) and probably pick one out of Cedric Diggory, Bill Weasley and Sirius Black.
(How can I not bring any good-looking guys to dinner?! hahaha...)
